PA IT Security conference

This tuesday, I attended the Pennyslvania IT Security Conference where the guest speaker was Kevin Mitnick. Some of my learnings / interesting facts.
1. Skimming device : One of the speakers showed a skimming device which reads the magnetic strip of a card and stores its information. It was used by some cashiers at drive-through counters to steal card info of customers.
2. Kevin demonstrated how an infected USB drive provided complete access to the system from a remote PC. A malicious program is set onto the invisible parition of a USB drive and when someone plugs that into their system, their whole system gets hijacked.
3. Kevin showed how easy it is to get the personal information of people (including first 5 digits of SSN, License number, DOB) from certain sites.
4. CISCO systems talked about how perimeter Security is a folk tale and that Security has to be looked at from a whole wide perspective comprising of people, process and technology.
In all, the conference touched upon some of the key topics of Security with some great speakers.

Hi Amar,
I have written to the Conference co-ordinators to check if they could share the CISCO presentation. I'll get that to you once I get it.
A quick answer would be that since the perimeter is hard to define with companies and people adopting Work-at-home or Work-on-mobile concepts.
