Sentiment Analysis SW

Some of the Universities are joining hands to develop a "Sentiment Analysis" SW which would analyze thousands of articles from Major newspapers / journals to evaluate the Threat of US. This effort is being funded by DHS. Read more.. Should someone be influenced on critical decisions based on "sentiment analysis" ??
