The Power of Forgiveness

I was shocked to read about the Amish county incident which happened last Monday when Charles Roberts walked into a school at the Amish county and shot 5 children and killed himself. This Amish school where the incident happened is in Lancaster which is a city about 40 miles from our home in PA. On Tuesday, the media was analyzing the reasons for the man who acted so cruelly which shook many people. What happened on Wednesday was an even greater shock to many people. The Amish people responded back to this incident through their faith and trust in the Lord. They said "We forgive Charles Roberts" and prayed for his family and supported his family during his funeral. Amish people seclude themselves from the fast paced world and they still use Horse carriages and dont use telephones. Though they have lived in their calm world, they have made a tremendous impact to every other person through their power of forgiveness. Where does this power come from ? How do we explain their Peace which surpasses all understanding ? Surely these are wise people who have built their house on the Rock. This whole incident has been a great learning for me. The peace and forgiveness demonstrated by the Amish people have really encouraged me of my Hope and Faith.
