AOL has screwed up bigtime yesterday when it posted the search query of 658k users on the Internet. Although they had posted it with Pseudonyms of users, this event is definitely a breach of privacy for which AOL has apologized later today.
This really increases the "Privacy Threat Level". Can I trust my search engine for Privacy ? What if they spy on me / millions of other users. What if they study my behavior by analyzing my search pattern ?
Maybe I should stop using personalized Google search. I just get reminded of Schneier's phrase -- "The Best way to solve a Security problem is not to have it at all".
