The company Everdream has come up with a solution for data security on Lost / Stolen laptops. A software gets installed on your laptop once you enable service with Everdream. If your laptop gets lost / stolen and you report the same, the service gets active on your laptop. When the laptop gets connected to the internet, all the data either gets encrypted or deleted depending on the setting you have initially specified when you enabled the service. Also it will let know the location of the location since the user gets connected to the intErnet.
The bad news is that you cannot find your laptop if the laptop is formatted. Obviously the SW gets erased with a format
