Oh yeah, today (Feb 20) is celebrated as President's day in US in remembrance of the father of the nation, General George Washington. I really get marvelled at the fact that a peasant grew up to become a general united the 13 colonies and fought and won the mighty British forces. I remember a quote which our history mam used to say about British, "The Sun never sets ON the British empire".
When George Washington was unanimously elected as the President, there was a king in France, a czarina in Russia, an emperor in China, and a shogun in Japan. Only the office of President remains.
